This policy is adapted from the Conflict of Interest in Peer-Reviewed Medical Journals, prepared by the WAME Editorial Policy and Publication Ethics Committees.

To ensure transparency and integrity in published articles, the following declarations must be included:

  • Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest, including financial, personal, or professional affiliations that may influence their work.
  • Sources of Support: Authors must detail all sources of support for the study, including sponsor names and their roles, if applicable. These roles may include:
    • Study design
    • Data collection, analysis, or interpretation
    • Report writing
    • Decision-making for publication
If the sponsor had no involvement in the research or publication process, this must be explicitly stated.
  • Access to Data: Authors must clarify their access to study data, including the nature and extent of access. If access is ongoing, this should also be stated.

To support these declarations, editors may request authors of studies sponsored by entities with financial or proprietary interests in the outcomes to sign a statement affirming:

"I had full access to all of the data in this study and take complete responsibility for the integrity of the data and the accuracy of the data analysis."

This policy ensures transparency, accountability, and trust in the research published under our platform.
